2022 Ram 1500 Towing Capacity

The 2022 Ram 1500 comes standard with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It produces up to 305-horsepower and 269 lb.-ft of torque. From the base model to the highest trim level with a more powerful engine, the Ram 1500 has a towing capacity of between 7,460 pounds and 8,100 pounds.

2022 Ram Classic Towing Capacity

The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic differs from the Ram 1500 in that it’s heavier due to its sturdy steel frame, this also means that it has more capabilities when it comes to towing capacity. The Ram 1500 Classic comes standard with a 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6 engine. It can tow up to 10,660 pounds thanks to its solid suspension and powerful, robust engine.

2022 Ram 2500 Towing Capacity

The 2022 Ram 2500 is built with a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine producing 410-horsepower and 429 lb.-ft of torque, it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has an outstanding towing capacity of up to 17,740 pounds. The Ram 2500 also offers diesel towing of up to 20,000 pounds for a powerful combination of performance and capability.

2022 Ram 3500 Towing Capacity

The Ram 3500 is built with a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine that produces 410-horsepower and 429 lb.-ft of torque. Built with the standard engine, the Ram 3500 can tow up to 18,210 pounds or, if you opt for the Best-in-Class available diesel towing instead with the most powerful engine available, take advantage of towing up to an incredible 37,090 pounds.

Base Weight

GVWR - (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)

The maximum total weight allowed of a fully-loaded vehicle including passengers. (Should never be exceeded)

GCWR - (Gross Combined Weight Rating)

The maximum total weight allowed of the towing vehicle, loaded trailer and all cargo and passengers. (Should never be exceeded)

TWR - (Trailer Weight Rating)

The maximum weight a trailer plus cargo that a vehicle can handle.

Payload

The combined maximum weight allowed of options, passengers and cargo that a vehicle is designed to carry.

Axle Ratio

The ratio between the driveshaft RPM and the axle shaft RPM. In general, the higher the number the more towing power and quicker the acceleration. A low number offers better fuel efficiency and quieter running.

Trailer Tongue Weight

The downward force on the hitch ball by the trailer coupler. This must be accounted for in total payload.
